We are so very excited to host a joint reading by children’s book author/illustrators Sarah Jacoby and Andrea Tsurumi. Sarah will be reading from her latest book, Rabbit and the Motorbike (will Rabbit be brave enough to grab life by the handlebars?) and Andrea will be reading from Crab Cake: Turning the Tide Together (can a humble crab with a talent for baking bring his community together in the wake of undersea tragedy?)
Come out to our reading—followed by a fun art activity and some delicious treats from Hello Donuts—to learn the answers to these burning questions! More about these amazingly talented women below:
Sarah Jacoby writes and illustrates picture books. Her most recent, Rabbit and the Motorbike, is slated to hit the shelves of bookstores near and far on September 10th (including The Head & The Hand Books!). If you would like to pre-order it, however, Do it now and receive a signed art print from Sarah! Sarah also painted the pictures in Mac Barnett’s story The Important Thing About Margaret Wise Brown. You can nab it from your friendly indie bookseller here. She also wrote and drew a picture book called Forever Or a Day.
Andrea Tsurumi ("sue-roo-me") is an author, illustrator and cartoonist originally from NY who now lives and draws in Philadelphia. The creator of ACCIDENT!, CRAB CAKE, and numerous comics, she’s also illustrated children’s books, news articles, and book covers. She recieved a BA in English from Harvard and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts (where she teaches a monthlong residency class). When she's not inventing croissant-based animals, she likes reading about ordinary and ridiculous history. she/her/hers
